Round 7 result: Mallabula 38 defeated North Newcastle 10

Fulltime score:
Mallabula 38 defeated
North Newcastle 10.
For the first 20 minutes our boys did nothing but defend our own half. We are unable to really mount any pressure on the oppostion and put them to the test.At the time of a disallowed try ruled to be a forward pass to Dean Glen-Holmes in the 53rd minute we were still in the contest but that was about it.
Overall a quite scrappy game with our ball handling contributing to our demise.
Try’s to Dean Glen-Holmes in the 27th minute and Eddie Asiata in 41st minute with Luke Fisher adding the extras with one goal.
Best players today were Eddie Asiata a standout in a losing team. Eddie was a handful for the oppostion all game (also great to see him back at the club) and Joel Williams who backed up another good performance from last weeks game.
Next game is against Kearsley next Saturday 3pm at Jeffery Park Kearsley.
Up the Bluebags.

Men’s: North Newcastle and Wallsend-Maryland play out a 22 all draw.

This years Old boys and Ladies Day was one very cold and windy day.
We were up against arguably the biggest team we have played thus far this season in Wallsend-Maryland.
In the first half we ran with a strong wind behind us Ty Hopley in the 15th minute was disallowed a fair try but Ty put that behind him and finally crossed the line in the 30th minute.Conversion unsuccessful.Wallsend-Maryland had the majority of possession and went in at haltime leading 12 – 4.
The 2nd half we ran into a very strong wind.It could not start any worse for us as Wallsend run in 2 trys in very quick succession blowing out to a 22 – 4 lead.
But to our boys credit they hung and hung in there and kept gradually clawing their way back in to the game.Ty Hopley scoring trys in the 48th,59th minute,Glen Holmes scoring in the corner in the 68th minute after a grubber from Mitchell Saxton into the in goal.Conversion unsuccessful.
Ty Hopley in the 73rd minute caps a fantastic day off by scoring in the corner for his 4th try of the day.Scores were now Wallsend-Maryland 22 Bluebags 20.
2 minutes out from full time we were awarded a penalty right in front of the posts.Luke Fisher pilots the ball over for a thrilling 22 all draw.A fantastic all round team effort today, in front of our Old Boys and Ladies.Special mentions must go out to Callan Warden,Ty Hopley,Nathan Tuckerman and Joel Williams (who consistantly punched holes in their defence all game).

Up the Bluebags!
