Fulltime North Newcastle 30 defeated Kearsley 24.
Several showers hit Passmore Oval late this afternoon but cleared in time for kickoff.
A few notes from tonight.
In the first half in the 5th minute Brent Steggall was sin binned. (Must be some sort of a record in an opening game to a season) + we dropped a lot of ball, errors at the play the ball and were on the receving end of a lot of penalties.
Lucky to be down 8 – 6 at the break, players did rally when Brent was binned.
In the 44th minute Ty Hopley was sent from the field and in the 75th minute Luke Fisher was sin binned.
Players stuck solid in the 2nd half, especially with a man down, starving off a determined Kearsley comeback and securing our first win.
Trys to Matt Pearce in the 32nd minute,Cody Hughes in the 48th minute,Matt Pearce going over again for his 2nd in the 52nd minute,Brodie McEwan after a great backline movement scoring in the 55th minute and finally Matt Pearce scoring a treble in the 78th minute.
Luke Fisher adding the extras with 3 goals and Nathan Tuckerman adding the extras with 2 Goals.
Also a big thankyou as already stated to club legend Karl Hutchinson and to Jayden Brett in leading a loud raucous victory song.😀😀
Up the mighty Bluebags.
